Repeat a color theme to pull it all together.
For this small home office space, I brought together a simple modern wood desk, side table, floor plant and minimalist chair to enhance my iMac (which also has that modern minimalist appeal). For the desk: simple natural wood, only 2 drawers for necessities, and modern black metal legs. I added a floating shelf in a natural wood aligned with the desk to serve as an extension as needed, and the glass side table provides extra work space if necessary. Important here is that I drilled into the desk drawers to add modern gold pulls to match the gold finish of the chair, the lamp and the trim of the side table --- automatic unity!
Keep It Clean and Simple
Pay attention to what shows (like accoutrements on your desktop and cords under your desk)!
I pulled in a handmade pottery mug from the cabinet to use for a pen holder which makes a fresh (and bespoke) look for my desk. The computer riser was a neat Amazon find for $33.00: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YDXC4CH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1 It's wonderful because the keyboard and mouse can tuck under when not in use! The cords below the desk have been tied up to give the cleanest look possible: this is especially necessary when you have a modern desk with open bottom.
I found some seat cushions that I wasn't currently using to place on the metal chair bottom and back for added color, texture --- AND COMFORT! Placement of some favorite books, candle, and floor plant gives the space a fantastic homey vibe!
